CSTO, Red Cross discuss humanitarian situation amid growing international tensions

CSTO Deputy Secretary General Samat Ordabayev and Director for Europe and Central Asia of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Ariane Bauer at a meeting in Moscow shared views on the humanitarian situation in the CSTO areas of responsibility and border areas amid the growing international tension – as reported in the CSTO press service

The press service of the organisation summed up the meeting, “One of the important results of the meeting was the confirmation of mutual interest in conducting joint work to develop interaction between the CSTO and the ICRC across key areas of international humanitarian law.”

The parties also noted the positive results of this year’s joint work and outlined the main areas for further liaisons while discussing the approval by the CSTO states of the participation of ICRC representatives in command and staff exercises with the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Forces – Interaction-2022 – and with the CSTO Peacekeeping Forces: Indestructible Brotherhood-2022.

The working meeting was also attended by employees of the CSTO Secretariat and representatives of the ICRC regional organisation in Russia and Belarus.
