CSTO Armed Forces’ general staff chiefs discussed military-political situation in the region

The Chief of the General Staff – the First Deputy Defence Minister of Belarus, Major General Viktor Gulevich, took part in a meeting of the CSTO Military Committee held via videoconferencing – as informed by the Defence Ministry’s Telegram channel

The parties discussed the military-political situation in the CSTO collective security regions. Major General Viktor Gulevich focused the meeting participants’ attention on the challenges and threats observed in the Eastern European region.

A number of other important issues related to the implementation of certain instructions of the CSTO bodies and the Military Committee were discussed as well. Among them was the CSTO peacekeeping potential development, including the joining to the UN peacekeeping activities, the organisation and provision of international flights of state (military) aviation of the CSTO member states, and others.

"Following the meeting of the CSTO Armed Forces’ general staff chiefs, the Protocol of the CSTO Military Committee was approved. The decisions taken during the discussion contributed to the development and strengthening of the CSTO military component, taking into account the parties’ national interests and priorities," the Defence Ministry stated.
