Croatian President intends to block the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO

Croatian President Zoran Milanovic plans to use his veto power at the NATO summit in Madrid to block the entry of Finland and Sweden into the military-political bloc, TASS reports

“I, as President of the country representing Croatia at the NATO summit, will veto the invitation [of Finland and Sweden to join the alliance], if it is at this level,” Mr. Milanovic said.

At the same time, the Croatian leader expressed doubt that he will be able to influence the situation if Helsinki and Stockholm are invited at a lower political level.

The NATO summit will be held on June 28th-30th in the Spanish capital. The leaders' meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance at the IFEMA exhibition centre. All other details of the event will be available later.
