The campaign aims to involve older people in the social life as much as possible, while creating conditions for their potential realisation.

As explained by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, a council of senior citizens is a permanent consultative and advisory body established by a decision of local executive and administrative authorities. Among its members are former deputies, heads of state bodies, enterprises and organisations, representatives of territorial public self-government bodies, public associations, and senior citizens.

An approximate provision has been developed to outline socially significant areas of the councils’ activity. Among them is assistance to local executive and administrative bodies in landscaping of territories, improving the quality and accessibility of social services and medical care, preserving cultural values, national customs and traditions, creating conditions for active physical education and sports, organising cultural events and festivities on the village, street and yard levels.

Councils of senior citizens will have the right to submit proposals to local, executive and administrative bodies to address other issues of older people’s routine.
