Columbia University professor: US forgetting of co-operation importance
The United States is losing sight of how important partnership is; the country is fighting on multiple fronts, said Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs, Director of Columbia University Centre for Sustainable Development, at the 17th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum that took place on December 5th-6th in Ras al Khaimah (UAE)
“We need peace, good neighbourly relations, and connectivity. We need America, Europe, Russia, China, the Gulf countries to work together investing in the social infrastructure and ensuring progress. Venues like the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum are important because 70 percent of the world population leave in Eurasia. It should be a peaceful hub for sustainable development and co-operation between neighbouring regions in digital technologies, in clean energy systems, in education structured in such a way as to give students chances to get to know their counterparts from other countries, from different cultures. The Eurasia that doesn’t represent any country in particular is a key component of social development,” the American professor said.
