Circumstances of the attack on Belarusian diplomats

The Investigative Committee is examining circumstances of the attack on employees of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in London – as reported by the Committee’s Telegram channel

According to the investigation, the day before yesterday evening in London, near the building of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, an attack was made on three employees of the diplomatic mission, citizens of Belarus. The attackers behaved aggressively and insolently, made threats, and also used violence against the diplomat, whose nose was broken and who also received other injuries. In line with the information received by the investigation, the reason for these actions was revenge for the fulfilment of their official duties by the diplomats.

The Main Investigation Department of the Central Office of the Investigative Committee of Belarus opened a criminal case on this fact under part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code (violence against an official performing official duties). An investigation is underway. In co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and operational services, relevant information is obtained on the above-mentioned circumstances.
