Chinese Foreign Ministry objects Biden’s statement on Taiwan

Beijing has made a protest to Washington in connection with the statement by US President Joe Biden that the US military would defend Taiwan in the event of a conflict between Taipei and Beijing – as noted by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, TASS reports

According to her, Biden’s remark grossly violates the ‘One China’ principle and the Three Sino-US Joint Communiqués and is a significant departure from the United States’ important commitment not to support Taiwan.

“It also sends the wrong signal to the pro-Taiwan independence forces. China expresses its deep dissatisfaction and strong protest in this regard, and also made a stern introduction to the American side,” Mao Ning said.
