Chinese authorities to tighten control over dissemination of military information on Internet
The Chinese Defence Ministry said that the Chinese authorities will strengthen control measures over the dissemination of military information on the Internet, RIA Novosti reports
It is noted that the new measures will make it possible to control the dissemination of military information online, including the creation of military-themed websites, columns and accounts on social networks.
Thus, ‘the dissemination of military information should promote the good image of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), adhere to the right political direction, and be value-oriented’.
It is reported that under the new measures, ‘military information disseminated online must not contain biased or misleading content that may cause the public to have a negative perception of the military, retired military personnel, or military equipment’. In addition, published information must not distort, denigrate, falsify the history of the PLA and its heroes, or ‘sow discord or undermine unity among the army, the government, and the people’.
