China urged the US to take responsibility for Afghanistan’s reconstruction
China's Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs, Yue Xiaoyong, believes that Washington should take full responsibility for Afghanistan’s reconstruction after the failure of the US strategy in the country, TASS reports
Yue Xiaoyong made a statement at the fourth meeting of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan. He said that the United States is the source of difficulties that Afghanistan is facing today. “It is necessary that they take the main responsibility for the strengthening and reconstruction of Afghanistan," the Chinese diplomat noted.
Yue Xiaoyong added that the US withdrawal from Kabul in 2021 demonstrated a complete failure of the American strategy and showed that Western democracy could not take root in this country.
He also stressed that it is necessary to call on the American government to stop unilateral sanctions against Afghanistan and return all the funds frozen by the US to the country.
