China’s textile cluster discussed prospects for co-operation with Belarus’ light industry at Guangzhou talks

Konstantin Golovko, Consul General of Belarus in Guangzhou, China, held a meeting with the leadership of Guangda Business and Trade City, a major textile cluster, sb.by reports citing Belarus’ Consulate General in Guangzhou

The talks addressed prospects for trade and economic co-operation, as well as opportunities for joint projects with Belarusian light industry enterprises. The cluster's leadership expressed its readiness to receive a delegation of Belarusian enterprises to explore the possibilities for economic co-operation in detail after the talks.

The total area of the cluster is 500,000 square metres. It is mainly engaged in manufacturing clothing, leather goods, bags, footwear and detergents.

The consular district of Belarus’ Consulate General covers four Chinese provinces (Guangdong, Guizhou, Hainan, Hunan) and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with an area of 1.23m square kilometres and a 332m population (approximately 23 percent of China’s overall population). The population of Guangzhou, the central city of the district, is nearly 14m. The main tasks of Belarus’ Consulate General in Guangzhou are to develop trade, economic and investment ties with the regions under its jurisdiction, protect the legitimate rights and interests of Belarusian citizens, and provide consular services to Chinese citizens.
