China plans to open megascience centre to research human cell lines
Construction of a large scientific centre for human cell line research has begun in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, TASS reports
According to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the complex will be equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies that will digitally display the dynamic process of evolution of each cell in the human body throughout its life cycle.
“The analysis of cell lines is seen as the key to the mysteries of the development and evolution of life, as well as the management of human life,” the Chinese Academy of Sciences said in a statement.
It is specified that the new centre will be engaged in the development of innovative technologies. It will integrate advanced developments in research, in particular AI, to create a digital model of a cell line. It is also reported that scientific work will focus around several areas: development, disease and aging of cells. The project is expected to be realised in 4.5 years.
Megascience projects are ultra-powerful and expensive scientific complexes for world-class cutting-edge research.
