China explains how US provoked crisis in Ukraine

China’s Huánqiú Shíbào [Global Times] has published an interesting analytical material, with a topical problem in focus: the US role in unleashing a crisis in Ukraine. The publication journalists analysed the American authorities’ actions that had led to the situation observed today – to conclude: Washington is benefiting from the crisis, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Chinese edition.

Chinese journalists blamed the United States for spreading myths about the cold war, aggravating global problems and provoking geopolitical conflicts. As Huánqiú Shíbào explained, the United States is working to compress Russia's security space, while also severing ties between this country and Europe – through ‘adding fuel to the fire’ in Ukraine. Its goal is ‘to weaken and break the Russian Federation with the help of military quagmire and sanctions’, ‘to bind European allies to itself’. At the same time, as noted by journalists, Americans are implementing a large-scale attack in the information space, ‘blowing smoke’ into the eyes of public opinion.

According to Huánqiú Shíbào, Americans are pursuing other interests as well. For example, Washington ‘has demonstrated the greed of Dollar hegemony’. The United States is benefiting from the current economic crisis as energy and food prices have risen record high, and there are problems with supplies. Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, American stocks have gained in value, energy exports from the United States have expanded, and the military industry is also gaining momentum.

Journalists have also accused official Washington of double standards: despite considering itself a defender of human rights, the United States ‘is always involved in unleashing conflicts and starting riots’. Moreover, according to Huánqiú Shíbào, the US hides biological weapons and ignores the fate of humanity.

In America, the conflict in Europe is used to shift citizens’ attention from internal problems to the situation in the world. It is stated that ‘in the face of the loss of hegemony, the only way out that can help ‘prolong its life’ is to provoke external conflicts’.

As a conclusion, the Chinese publication stressed that the United States is constantly undermining the regional and global order – and there are many examples of the kind: Arab Spring, a colour revolution in Eurasia, a war in the Middle East, and also a new Monroe Doctrine in Latin America.
