China and Belarus enjoy wide prospects for co-operation, Ambassador believes
After his meeting with Aleksandr Lukashenko today, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Belarus, Xie Xiaoyong, shared the details of their talk
“We had a very good conversation – discussing the main areas of bilateral co-operation and summing up some results,” the diplomat said.
According to Xie Xiaoyong, during his talk with Belarus’ Head of State, the topics of political interaction in the international arena were touched upon, in addition to business co-operation in the economic and trade spheres. The issue of joint fight against the pandemic was also in the focus of attention.
Answering a question from journalists about China’s attitude to the sanctions pressure on Belarus on the part of the western countries, the diplomat noted that China's position on this issue is extremely clear, “We oppose these unjustified sanctions measures.”
As stressed by Xie Xiaoyong, it is necessary to carefully observe the basic principles of the UN Charter and the norms of international law.
“In this difficult situation, including in the context of the pandemic, these factors have a negative impact on the global economy. However, I would like to note that – despite these factors – the Chinese-Belarusian co-operation will withstand these tests and maintain the dynamics of development,” the Ambassador of China to Belarus stressed.
