China against external forces’ interference into Belarus’ domestic affairs

China is against of interference of external forces into Belarus’ internal affairs and, as always, supports the country in following the development path which meets its own national conditions – as stated by the Chinese Foreign Ministry after a telephone conversation between the leaders of Belarus and China, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping, BelTA reports

Xi Jinping stressed that the current international and regional situation is complex, and it is developing. China and Belarus co-operate effectively in multilateral organisations – such as the United Nations, while firmly supporting each other in protection of their key interests. This reflects the strategic value of Chinese-Belarusian co-operation.

"In the new situation, the both states should continue to closely liaise, practice a genuine multilateral approach, support the international system with the UN as the core and the international order based on international law, while ensuring international law and justice. China opposes the interference of external forces in the internal affairs of Belarus and, as always, supports Belarus on its path of development which meets its own national conditions," the statement reads.

It is also noted that the both sides should defend the common values of all mankind, guide the international community to form a correct view of democracy and human rights and contribute to implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Xi Jinping stressed that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belarus. Over the past three decades, China and Belarus have achieved fruitful results in development of their bilateral relations. The countries have become comprehensive strategic partners, and their co-operation as part of the Belt and Road initiative has been steadily developing. The volume of bilateral trade has increased 50 times over this time. A range of large-scale projects have been launched – including the China-Belarus Industrial Park and the China-EU rail service. Exchanges in science and technology, education, culture, tourism, healthcare and other areas have intensified, creating a model for friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial co-operation between the countries.

China is ready to co-operate with Belarus to use the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a new starting point for strengthening the political trust of the two countries, deepening their beneficial co-operation and promoting the China-Belarus comprehensive strategic partnership to continuously achieve new results.

The both sides should expand the scope of bilateral trade and strengthen co-operation in various fields.
