Representatives of 47 countries discussed online and at the competition site the peculiarities of the conduct of the festival’s main part in March next year.

Representatives of the EYOF organising committee spoke about the accommodation of participants, accreditation, solemn ceremonies, food, transport, as well as security and measures to counter the spread of COVID-19.

“During the festival, the organisers will use the sports facilities that were involved in holding a similar EYOF event in 2001. The infrastructure for youth sports is good here, and Belarusian athletes are remembered here and are welcomed again,” Vasily Yurchik, the chief of the mission of our team, shared his impressions.

The heads of the delegations in Vuokatti got acquainted with the living conditions in the village of athletes, complexes for competitions in cross-country skiing and biathlon, figure skating, alpine skiing, and visited the hockey arena, where the Belarusian U-18 team is also competing these days.

The Winter European Youth Olympic Festival in Vuokatti has been postponed from 2021 to March 20th-25th next year but the hockey tournament is taking place this week. Our junior team, led by Andrei Mikhalev, has played two matches, beating the Russians – 2:1 (in overtime) and losing to the Finns – 1:5.

In March 2022, about two thousand athletes from 47 countries will compete across nine sports disciplines.
