The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Mykola Solskyi, said the country is expected to cut the acreage of wheat, barley and corn by about a quarter in 2023, TASS reports

Mr. Solskyi said this is due to a high cost of nitrogen fertilisers, late harvesting this year and, accordingly, the impossibility of high-quality preparation of agricultural lands for the next season.

As noted by the official, Ukrainian farmers will give preference to sunflower and soybeans instead of grain in 2023.

Earlier, Mr. Solskyi stated that the total acreage of wheat sown in the country next year will be reduced by more than 20 percent, and barley – by 30 percent. At the same time, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, lands for winter crops have already decreased by about 40 percent compared to last year.
