CEC Chairman: constitutional law in foundation of Belarus’ state ideology

The development of constitutional law in Belarus has crystallised the basis of the state ideology – as noted by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Igor Karpenko, at a recent seminar-meeting devoted to the results of the 2022-2025 election cycle and the updated electoral legislation

"As President Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, by adopting the updated Constitution, Belarusians outlined the state ideology that is rooted in our Basic Law,” Mr. Karpenko said. “The latter clearly names Belarus’ principles: sovereignty, preservation of historical memory, patriotism, protection of the traditional family as a union of a woman and a man. These norms do not fit into the legal trends of global feminist ideology, but they are our civilisational choice.”

According to the CEC Chairman, the modern world is not becoming kinder and more merciful: on the contrary, it is now more split and aggressive, with eroded moral and ethical norms. “Dynamic socio-political processes require government agencies, structures involved in ideology and education of the younger generation to step up efforts to strengthen traditional values and preserve and the rich cultural heritage of our ancestors,” he noted.
