CEC Chairman: Belarus ready to share best practices of electoral process with foreign colleagues
Belarus is ready to share its best practices of the electoral process with foreign colleagues – as stated by the Central Election Commission Chairman, Igor Karpenko, in his talk with the Belarus 1 TV channel
"We had several dozen meetings, primarily with our colleagues [during the Presidential election in Belarus]. Among them there were not only those with whom we interact within the framework of the Advisory Council of Heads of the CIS Election Bodies: we also met with the colleagues who had come to Belarus for the first time as observers, with whom we co-operate within the framework of the Association of World Election Bodies," Mr. Karpenko said.
The CEC Chairman noted that the Belarusian experience is of great interest to foreign colleagues, “They are interested in our experience and our legislation. During two dozen bilateral meetings with the CEC participation, we agreed that we would continue to co-operate in exchanging views on the electoral process and share our best practices in this sphere. We agreed with some colleagues that we will prepare relevant agreements on co-operation within the framework of electoral policy carried out by our states, they will be signed soon. Importantly, the states with which we had built a fairly high level of political, trade and economic relations were invited.”
