Canadian Defence Ministry: Ottawa trained 36,000+ Ukrainian military
Ottawa has trained more than 36 thousand military for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand
According to Ms. Anand, Canada does not intend to stop providing assistance to Kiev. “The Canadian Armed Forces have trained over 36,000 Ukrainian soldiers, and we will continue to do this," she said at a press conference with her Polish counterpart, Mariusz Blaszczak.
In addition, as Ms. Anand noted, Kiev has received more than 8m Pounds of military aid (3.6 thousand tonnes) from Ottawa.
Since the beginning of last year, Canada has sent 155mm M777 howitzers, anti-tank grenade launchers, hand grenades and ammunition to Ukraine. Earlier, the Canadian government also announced that it would purchase NASAMS air defence systems from the United States for the needs of Kiev.
