By 2030, Belarus expects to triple total revenue from microelectronics

By 2030, Belarus expects to more than triple its total revenue from the sale of microelectronic goods – as stated by Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik at a meeting with the President of Belarus on the development of this sector, BelTA reports

“The total revenue from the sale of products of domestic microelectronics and electronic engineering in 2025 will grow to $200m. By 2030, it will reach $330-350m – up by 3.3 times compared to 2021. I’d like to underline that these indicators are a minimum,” the Deputy PM said.

He reported that the Head of State’s instructions, given in June 2022 at a meeting on the development of domestic microelectronics, have been fulfilled. A programme for the development of Belarus’ microelectronic industry has been approved until 2030. Together with the Russian side, a list of necessary electronic components was determined and a roadmap for the development of microelectronic production was agreed. Moreover, a Russian-Belarusian centre for photomasks has been established.

Moreover, a set of measures is being currently implemented to provide the microelectronic industry with qualified personnel. Scientific support of the industry is carried out by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. At present, an innovation-industrial cluster has been created, which identifies promising areas of research and development aiming to create microelectronics production and products.

“The most important thing that worries me is that scientists, designers and experts understand what needs to be done and where to go. If we have such people, then there will always be money for this. And there are such people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the meeting.
