BSU presented its experience in educating foreigners from over 50 countries in Russia

The experience of the Belarusian State University (BSU) in the field of internationalisation of education was presented at the 8th national scientific and methodological conference – Architecture of University Education: Strategies for the Development of Human Capital in Russia – held in St. Petersburg (Russian Federation), the BSU press service reports

“The Architecture of University Education: Strategies for the Development of Human Capital in Russia scientific and methodological conference was held on April 16th-18th,” the press service informed. “The BSU delegation was headed by BSU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation of Education Viktor Kochin. During the forum, he acted as an expert in the open discussion, entitled Hidden Competencies: the Role of University Internationalisation in the Development of Human Capital.”

According to Mr. Kochin, the complex development of personality today depends on many factors, among which the international component plays an important role.

“Strengthening interethnic and cultural ties has an impact on increasing the competitiveness of the university, the quality of education and research, and the graduation of highly qualified specialists,” the BSU Vice-Rector emphasised.

The BSU representative noted that his university is the leading university in Belarus for the education of foreign citizens. Currently, the university has more than 5,500 students from 54 countries.

“The continuation of effective work in this area will contribute to the expansion of BSU’s presence in the global academic space, the development of international communication and the formation of skills and competencies of young specialists that meet the demands of the time,” Mr. Kochin summed up.

The conference brought together managers, scientists and students, independent experts and public figures. The two-day programme included open discussions, educational seminars, round tables and guided tours of key historical sites of the cultural capital of Russia.

The purpose of the forum was to share experiences and discuss topical issues in the field of educational innovation, to identify new approaches in the scientific, technological and socio-economic development of states. The event was organised by the St. Petersburg State University of Economics and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library.
