Brest Region delegation visiting China’s Liaoning Province

Today, April 15th, a delegation of the Brest Region headed by Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee Piotr Parkhomchik has started its visit to China’s Liaoning Province. While the capital from 30 countries works in the Brest Region, the People’s Republic of China is among the top-3 trading partners of the Brest Region. China and its provinces are strategic partners for Belarus’ south-western region: partnership agreements have been concluded with four Chinese provinces: Anhui, Hubei, Shanxi and Liaoning, the Brest Regional Executive Committee’s press service reports.

The foreign trade turnover in 2024 exceeded $444m. In 2024, foreign direct investment amounted to $18.8m, which is 20.9 times more than in 2023. The main income came from the implementation of the project for the creation of a production unit for cooling equipment together with a Chinese company on the premises of the Baranovichi Plant of Automatic Lines.

Another important joint project is being implemented at Brestmash JSC, where truck and car assembly has been set up in co-operation with a Chinese company. An agreement has been reached on the supply of 200 machine kits for the further assembly of trucks, 108 of which are to be delivered to the Brest enterprise by the end of April this year.
For the past decade, the Brest Region has been liaising with Chinese companies in the transport industry on the export and import of electrical equipment, as well as on the supply, repair and maintenance of railway equipment.

Among the most important imported items are tyres, frozen fruits and berries, fasteners, motor vehicles and dyes.

Products of the Brest Region enterprises, such as rapeseed oil, frozen beef, milk whey, milk and cream, meat and poultry by-products, are in demand in China.
In 2023, Brest-based Savushkin Product JSC registered a joint venture in the Liaoning Province to sell dairy products on the Chinese market. In 2024, this joint venture exported $10.8m worth of milk powder and whey powder to China.

During the visit of the Brest Region delegation to China, it is planned to sign a number of bilateral documents. In particular, the Brest Region and the Liaoning Province are extending the co-operation agreement. The new work plan for the further development of the partnership will cover the period 2025-2027.
