Borrell: EU to launch major training programme for Ukrainian forces
The European training mission for the preparation of the Ukrainian military will appear on the territory of one of the EU countries that neighbours Ukraine – as stated by EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell, RIA Novosti reports
The head of European diplomacy made this statement following an international conference in the Spanish city of Santander, “It will not be in Ukraine, but on the territory of a neighbouring country,” he said.
Borrell’s speech was broadcast by the European External Action Service on its Twitter account.
The diplomat recalled that some European countries are already preparing the Ukrainian military, in particular, for the operation of equipment supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Ukrainian soldiers are already being trained in Poland, the Czech Republic, Great Britain and France. We supply complex weapons, so training is required for their operation,” he specified.
