In its spirit and letter of the law, the Belarusian People’s Congress is the most democratic institution of the state – as noted by Natalya Borisenko, the Chairperson of the Belarusian Notary Chamber, BelTA reports

According to her, the Belarusian People’s Congress is the most important element of the political system and will determine the strategic socio-political and socio-economic development of modern Belarus. The tradition of holding a congress is a true manifestation of democracy. Six national forums have already been held. In accordance with the results of the nationwide referendum held in February 2022, the Belarusian People’s Congress became a constitutional body.

“In its spirit and letter of the law, the Belarusian People’s Congress is the most democratic institution of the state. The widest sections of our society will be represented in it, and, of course, this is very important in terms of developing the most important and balanced decisions for the country’s further development and strengthening the statehood as a whole,” the Chairperson of the Belarusian Notary Chamber noted.

Issues related to the work of the People’s Congress, its status and powers in the system of other bodies of state administration and authorities, the procedure for nominating delegates were also discussed, with separate attention paid to main provisions of the draft law on amendments to the Electoral Code.
