Border guards about enhanced measures to protect state border in southern direction
The situation on the Belarusian border in the southern direction remains tense. The official Telegram channel of the State Border Committee of Belarus has published a video in which employees of the Mokhro checkpoint in the Brest Region tell us how security measures have been strengthened under these conditions.
As the Head of the Border Control Department noted, since the beginning of the Russian military special operation on the territory of Ukraine, measures have been taken to equip fortifications at the Mokhro checkpoint in order to ensure the safety of personnel. Moreover, monitoring of the approaches to the checkpoint and airspace has also been strengthened.
The speaker showed how the duty room where – where it is possible to remotely monitor the situation in the area adjacent to the checkpoint – is arranged at the border control department. “With the use of video surveillance systems, the fact of the placement of anti-tank mines on the line of the state border by the adjacent side was registered. On the adjacent side, a shelter made of concrete blocks has been equipped, in which employees of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine serve. The road is equipped with an anti-tank ditch,” said the Head of the Border Control Department.
He also added that the checkpoint is equipped with a system for detecting air targets in order to stop violations of the state border by aircraft. “At present, the main task is to ensure the own security of border guards and to monitor the area adjacent to the checkpoint and the airspace. The moral and psychological state of the personnel ensures the fulfilment of the tasks of protecting the state border,” the speaker concluded.
An officer of the Border Control Department spoke about the combat gear of the Belarusian border guards, “Now we are equipped with bulletproof vests of the fifth protection class, a helmet, a Kalashnikov assault rifle and a Makarov pistol. We try to record any actions on the adjacent section of the border, for this we have video recorders. Moreover, there are video surveillance systems at the checkpoint.”
As far as the Ukrainian side is concerned, according to the officer, ‘in terms of military gear, everything has also changed seriously. Earlier it was regular, now it happens that it is reinforced with anti-tank grenade launchers, machine guns, and sniper rifles.”
Earlier, the State Border Committee of Belarus reported about a provocation by the Ukrainian military on the border with Belarus, in which an armoured personnel carrier was involved.
