Bogodel: Belarusian army made breakthrough in military-technical sphere in recent years

If an aggressive offensive operation begins on the territory of Belarus, then our army will be ready to repel the blow, including because it is well equipped technically – as noted by Colonel Andrei Bogodel, Deputy Head of the Department for Educational and Scientific Work – Head of the Educational and Methodology Department of the Faculty of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Military Academy of Belarus, during his talk with STV TV channel

He noted that the Belarusian army is really combat-ready, mobile and modern. “Even if we compare how our army looked, maybe a year or two ago, when we held ourselves back a little in some issues, a very serious step has been taken today – not just a step forward, but a breakthrough in many aspects. This applies, of course, to the military-technical sphere. That is, we see the latest air defence systems, tanks, combat vehicles. We started to develop a lot of military equipment ourselves. Recently, the President announced that the production of military aviation will be developed primarily within the framework of our country. This is already a lot. We are also developing our own rocket science.”

The military expert also spoke about the training of troops, “Today, it must be said that battalion and tactical groups have already been advanced to the state borders. Our border is covered on the main threatening directions. Of course, our air defence system is working in full. About several thousand people are constantly on combat duty, providing peace of mind.”

According to Andrei Bogodel, there are no analogues of our air defence system in Europe. If gaps are found, they will be covered by other forces and means. “Therefore, echeloning, as well as anti-aircraft missile and aviation systems will certainly work. It’s beyond any doubt.”

In connection with the armed conflict in Ukraine, the world media and some leaders of foreign countries suggest that there is a risk of starting a nuclear war. Commenting on this, Andrei Bogodel drew attention to the fact that Belarus is a non-nuclear state, “This is defined in all our legal documents and acts. But I must say that we have a Russian nuclear umbrella over us. Therefore, bad weather in this matter is absolutely not terrible for us.”
