Bellegprom increasing exports this year

The year of 2022 has become unique and non-standard for the light industry. Despite a number of difficulties in the first half of the year, certain problems with logistics and interruptions in supplies, the exports of Belarusian products were increased – as noted by Tatiana Lugina, the Chairperson of Bellegprom Concern, following the results of her report to the President.

The head of the concern indicated that in the first quarter the entire market was ‘quite shaken up’, “Our industry was no exception, although there are no direct sanctions. April-May were very difficult, we lost up to 10 percentage points of exports. But the task was clear: how to act and where to move further. We saw how Russian business and Russian regions reacted.”

Tatiana Lugina reminded that Russian delegations from the regions quite often came to Belarus in spring and summer, and light industry enterprises during each such visit worked out options for co-operation. This year, the concern’s enterprises supply products to 71 Russian regions while Belarusian exports to 43 regions have grown.

“Over nine months, the concern’s export rate was 106.2 percent. We managed to level out the under-deliveries of our goods to the markets of the European Union, America and Ukraine and expand (by $16m) at the expense of the Russian and Asian markets. The growth rate in the Asian market exceeds 144 percent,” the Chairperson of Bellegprom said.

She clarified that the supply of textile products to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Tajikistan, India, Turkey has increased, “We understand that everything is not easy, but nevertheless a lot depends on us. Today we rely on the development of branded trade in the Russian market. Moreover, we organised and registered in Russia the Belarusian Textile House, which included our four large textile enterprises (Kamvol, Mogotex, the Orsha Linen Mill and the Baranovichi Cotton Production Amalgamation).”

Tatiana Lugina added that today the market is open and not completely balanced, there are niches that can be occupied, “Today this topic was seriously discussed with the Head of State. The tasks have been set for us, and we will fulfil them.”

She noted that the topic of tailoring overalls for law enforcement agencies is also relevant. Moreover, in this regard, our textile products and developments enjoy high demand, “This suggests that the strategic importance that we attached to the textile industry justifies itself ... We understand that the demand for technical textiles will increase. Our four flagships of the textile industry, each of which specialises in a certain product, have been preserved and enough investment has been injected in them. Most importantly, we see the future with these enterprises. Now is the time for technical smart textiles, and we are glad that we approached this prepared.”
