Belarusians are very responsive to others’ grief

This belief has been voiced by the Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross Society, Dmitry Shevtsov, in his talk with the ONT TV channel, BelTA reports

"I have always said that the Belarusian people are very responsive to the grief of others since our genes keep the suffering that our parents and forefathers experienced during the Great Patriotic War and after it – as it was necessary to restore [the country]. Our hearts are really full of humaneness and mercy – and when a disaster of the kind happens, believe me, many people respond," Mr. Shevtsov said.

Recalling the situation with refugees on the Belarus-Poland border, he noted that Belarusians had provided much assistance, especially clothes, in a short period of time.

Mr. Shevtsov added that all those concerned can transfer funds to accounts opened in the Gomel regional branch of the Red Cross Society and in the central office. Ordinary Belarusians, public associations and enterprises can transfer money.
