Belarusian Women’s Union strengthening international co-operation through joint projects and friendly dialogue
Women all over the world must unite to defend their rights – as stated by the Director of the Mir TV and Radio Company representative office in Belarus, Chairperson of the Belarusian Women's Union Olga Shpilevskaya, in her talk with the Belarus 24 TV channel
Ms. Shpilevskaya drew attention to the fact that the Belarusian Women’s Union is enhancing its international co-operation with women's organisations. “Ladies all over the world must unite to defend their rights,” she stated.
“We liaise with many women's organisations in other countries, and they have different names there: these are committees for women's affairs in the East and Asia, the women’ unions in Mongolia or Vietnam, or a state-level branch of the Communist Party in China, for example. We work with absolutely everyone who is ready for a friendly dialogue," Ms. Shpilevskaya emphasised.
In 2024, the Belarusian Women’s Union signed a co-operation agreement with colleagues from the Zimbabwean Women's Movement and the Women’s Union of Mongolia. Work with Vietnam has intensified as well: in the autumn of 2024, a delegation from this country visited Belarus, and a return visit is planned.
“Naturally, we co-operate with all CIS countries. For example, we have established relations with Uzbekistan, we communicate very well with the Women's Affairs Committee. Of course, we have been working closely with the Russian Women's Union for many decades. Moreover, we liaise with the Russian regions. In particular, our regional organisations co-operate directly with the regional branches of the Russian Women's Union, and this also results in joint projects," Mr. Shpilevskaya added.
