Belarusian food exports to China up by 50% since 2021

In January-September 2022, the exports of Belarusian food products to China increased by more than 50 percent compared to the same period last year – as noted by Ksenia Meleshko, the Head of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry’s Main Directorate for Foreign Economic Activity, BelTA reports

According to her, China is one of the main trading partners for processing organisations in Belarus. “The exports of food products are growing every year and over nine months of 2022 the growth exceeded 50 percent compared to the same period last year. Over the past few years, China has been ranked second among 100+ countries that buy Belarusian products,” Ksenia Meleshko added. A wide range of products is shipped to China: beef, poultry, milk in consumer packaging, dry dairy products, rapeseed oil, confectionery and more.

According to the Economy Ministry, over eight months of this year, the mutual trade turnover between Belarus and China increased by 11 percent to reach almost $4bn. In general, during this period, the exports of Belarusian goods to China more than doubled, reaching a record high of $1.2bn, and significantly exceeded the figure for 2021 as a whole.
