Belarusian drug for COVID-19 treatment may appear in pharmacies next year

This was noted by Yelena Kalinichenko, the Head of the KhimPharmSintez Research and Productions Centre of the Bioorganic Chemistry Institute at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, on the eve of the Day of Pharmaceutical and Microbiological Industry Workers

According to her, Belarusian scientists have not remained aloof from the problem of coronavirus.

“We are finishing the development of a drug for the treatment of coronavirus infection. It will be manufactured in a tablet form. The technology for obtaining the substance has been created, the substance has been generated, and the tablet form has been developed. It has been put in storage. Normative and technical documentation is being currently developed. This year we plan to submit the drug for registration. Whether bioequivalent clinical trials will be ordered or not depends on the Healthcare Ministry. If everything goes well, then next year, I think, this drug will appear in pharmacies.”
