Belarusian delegation taking part in 4th CIS Science Forum in Bishkek

Scientists of Belarus are participating in the 4th CIS Science Forum, held in Bishkek on June 16th-17th. Our delegation includes representatives of scientific organisations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Healthcare Ministry and the Education Ministry – as reported by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

Academician Sergei Gaponenko, the Chairman of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Basic Research, who heads the Belarusian delegation, spoke at the opening of the forum, noting that today ‘the scope and frequency of new challenges have reached an unprecedented scale’. “Science, which is at the forefront of solving the most complex problems of mankind, is the first to take on global challenges. Therefore, it is important for scientists to try, including via joint effort, to prevent their occurrence while minimising possible negative effects,” underlined Mr. Gaponenko.

The academician drew attention to the fact that the long-term interaction of the CIS scientific organisations has created a good basis for increased work together in times of crisis. The head of the Belarusian delegation added that holding the CIS Science Forums is becoming a traditional form of interaction between scientists. According to him, researchers can now systematically consider a wide range of issues of expanding interaction in scientific and innovative fields for the benefit of the CIS nations.

It is also reported that the list of thematic areas of the forum testifies to the community of interests of scientists from the CIS states. Among them are nanotechnologies and new materials, chemical technologies, energy, biotechnology and genetics, molecular biology, ecology and information and communication technologies, modern medicine and drug production.

The previous Forum of CIS Science took place in Minsk on November 25th-26th, 2021.
