Belarus, UN discussed liaisons in human rights

The Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations in Geneva, Larysa Belskaya, met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet – as reported by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry

The sides discussed issues of current and future co-operation on the topic of human rights, including in the context of decisions taken by the UN Human Rights Council. Ms. Belskaya expressed concern that the OHCHR independent line of actions in relations with Belarus is becoming less noticeable against the background of the Office’s current involvement in the implementation of confrontational initiatives of the Western states.

The Belarusian diplomat expressed hope for the resumption of constructive co-operation between OHCHR and Belarus. The sides confirmed their readiness to maintain further dialogue.
