Belarus to submit two national reports to UN in 2025

Igor Sekreta, Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister and a member of the Council for Sustainable Development, has taken part in the council’s regular meeting, which was headed by Sergei Khomenko, the National Co-ordinator of Belarus for Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, sb.by reports with reference to Belarus’ Foreign Ministry

The event focused on preparing two national reports that Belarus will present to the UN in 2025. Specifically, these are Belarus’ third voluntary national review on the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (i.e. the Sustainable Development Goals) and its national report on the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council.

The participants of the event included government and parliamentary representatives, public organisations, young people, businesses, UN agencies in Belarus, as well as experts from international organisations. They presented their vision for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Belarus.

The views and assessments of the meeting participants will be considered in the national SDG review, which will be presented and defended at the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York in July 2025.

During the meeting, tasks were also defined and areas of joint work were outlined in preparation for the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council, which will be held in Geneva on November 3rd, 2025.
