Belarus to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35 percent by 2030

The Republic has approved commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35 percent by 2030 – as informed by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection 

It’s been announced that, as part of implementation of the international obligations to meet the provisions of the Paris Agreement Under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Council of Ministers of Belarus has adopted Resolution No. 553 as of September 29th: On Establishment of Belarus’ National Level Contribution to Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2030.

In line with the document, the country undertakes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35 percent by 2030, taking into account absorption in the Land Use, Land-Use Change and Forestry section and without attracting additional financing (in line with previous commitments, reduction stood at 28 percent).

The goals are planned to be achieved within the framework of the programme on Belarus' social and economic development in 2021-2025, and a number of state and sectoral programmes envisaged for this period.
