Belarus to export its pianos to China

After visiting a piano factory in Minsk, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko informed that Belarus will supply its musical instruments to China

Mr. Petrishenko was informed on the implementation of the President's instructions to resume musical instrument production in the country.

“Following the President’s instruction, piano production has resumed in Belarus, and 1,712 instruments were bought from 2018 to 2021 to equip the country’s cultural and educational institutions. Moreover, financial resources are provided to purchase instruments and equipment for music schools and youth creativity centres in 2021-2025. Earlier, we used to buy components mainly in Germany, but now are importing them from China – due to sanctions restrictions. They have no difference in quality,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

The piano factory has joined the Chinese market, and a contract for tolling raw materials has been concluded. As an experiment, 100 instruments will be supplied to China.

According to Mr. Petrishenko, apart from pianos, production of cymbals, guitars, balalaikas and domras has been resumed in Belarus. “Our individual entrepreneurs have created all the necessary comfortable conditions for production, and – importantly – new specialists are undergoing training. After all, not components mainly matter for an instrument, but the master’s competence,” he said.

Mr. Petrishenko added that no complaints have so far been registered regarding Belarus-made instruments. Professional musicians are happy with their sound and quality.

“Good prospects for promotion of Belarusian instruments to the markets of friendly countries are opening, and there is a huge potential in the Russian market. We have orders, and this will enable the Minsk factory to increase its annual piano production to 1,000 pieces. The Government will, in turn, support such exporters through the Development Bank," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
