Belarus, Thailand discuss interaction in forensic science

A delegation from the Forensic Science Office of the Royal Thai Police visited the Central Office of the State Forensic Examination Committee of Belarus (SFEC). The Belarusians demonstrated to their foreign colleagues the SFEC capabilities in the field of forensic examinations, the material and technical equipment of expert laboratories, as well as the equipment used by specialists to solve problems in the course of investigations – as reported on the SFEC website.

The State Forensic Examination Committee said that a delegation from Thailand visited laboratories for the study of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their precursors and analogues, a gemmological laboratory, a laboratory for spectral analysis, research on materials and alloys, shot products and research on petroleum products.

“Thai guests were especially interested in the work experience of forensic experts of the Directorate for Examination of Documents, Banknotes and Handwriting,” the SFEC noted. “Foreign colleagues noted the modern technical equipment of expert laboratories and the high level of professional training of Belarusian specialists.”

According to the SFEC, this visit of foreign colleagues to Belarus is the first stage in the development of relations with the forensic experts of Thailand, which in the future will be expanded and strengthened.

“At the end of the meeting, key areas of interaction were discussed. Both sides confirmed their focus on continuing constructive and mutually beneficial liaisons between Belarus and Thailand in the area of forensic activities,” the SFEC concluded.
