Belarus’ State Border Committee: the body of a refugee found near Polish fence

On the morning of May 8th, the Belarusian border patrol found the corpse of a Syrian citizen on the border with Poland, the State Border Committee reports in its Telegram channel

It is informed that the man's body was located five metres from a gate in the fence installed on the Polish territory. Cash, a driver's license and photographs were also found.

"In order to establish all the circumstances of the incident, an investigative task force was sent to the scene,” the source said.

The State Border Committee stressed that the death of people seeking a better life in Western countries proves the lawlessness and cruelty of the EU authorities. Since the beginning of 2023, fifteen refugees have died on the Belarusian side due to the fault of the neighbouring EU countries’ security forces.
