Belarus’s food exports likely to exceed $7bn in 2022

In his talk with Belarus 1 TV channel, Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Minister said the country aims to sell more than $7bn of food abroad this year, BelTA reports

"I am deeply convinced that we will sell over $7bn this year, as there are prerequisites for this. In January, we had good figures: exports growth made almost 27 percent against the last year data. That is, the beginning of the year was quite significant. With this in mind, we will try to maintain this level and ensure even greater exports,” Mr. Brylo said.

According to the Agriculture and Food Minister, there is no need to worry about sales markets, “By and large, even before these sanctions, we increased the share of our exports to almost all countries of the world – to those where we had supplied. These embrace about 112-116 states; our products are present there – somewhere less and somewhere more. Clearly, Russia remains our main market. The Eurasian Economic Union, the post-Soviet space account for a major share. Our second market, based on the 2021 results, is China. We are now trying to expand the range of products supplied there as much as possible, to obtain certifying documents for this. The markets of Asia, Caribbean countries and Africa [are also among Belarus’ importers]. I am actually deeply convinced that – despite some unfriendly steps by some countries – this will not prevent us from increasing the share of agricultural exports.”
