As informed by the Defence Ministry, the build-up of the regional group of troops (forces) of Belarus and Russia continues as part of ensuring the military security of the Union State. At the moment, this process is taking place in stages – based on the unfolding situation. Personnel, weapons, military and special equipment of Russia’s Armed Forces will continue to arrive to Belarus, and further combat co-ordination activities are planned to be held at the Belarusian training grounds with participation of the coming units.

“In addition, a joint tactical flight exercise is planned in order to increase the level of combat training of aviation units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, which are part of the RGV(S) aviation component. Russia will be represented there by a military formation of its Aerospace Forces. Joint Belarusian-Russian training of the regional group of troops (forces) is complex in nature, and it covers not only the combat component, but also all supporting systems," the Defence Ministry’s press service commented.

According to the Defence Ministry, the decision to create a RGV(S) (regional group of forces) on the territory of Belarus was made, and it is being implemented exclusively in the interests of strengthening the protection and defence of the Union State, based on the unfolding situation near our borders.
