Belarus reports first Omicron cases

First patients have tested positive for the Omicron coronavirus variant in Belarus – as informed by the Healthcare Ministry’s Telegram channel

"Four people have tested positive for the Omicron new coronavirus variant out of all tests made today at the Republican Research and Practical Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Healthcare Ministry. These are the first confirmed cases of the new infection variant in Belarus. They all have a mild disease course,” the Healthcare Ministry reported.

Over the past 24 hours, 1,493 patients with COVID-19 have been registered in Belarus; 1,699 people have been discharged from hospital.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 696,220 people have tested positive for COVID-19 countrywide. 688,890 patients have recovered.

During the entire period of the spread of coronavirus infection in the country, 5,543 patients with the detected virus have died.

Over the past 24 hours, specialists have made 27,593 tests. In total, 10,999,160 tests have been made countrywide by now.
