Belarus’ PM discussed at Belkommunmash prospects for domestic passenger electric car production

Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko held a meeting on the electric transport development on the premises of Belkommunmash Holding Management Company

The Belarusian Head of Government recalled that for two years now the country has been implementing a comprehensive programme for the development of electric transport for 2021-2025.

“Judging by the reports of the executors, the programme is being carried out in accordance with the schedules, there are no big problems,” the Prime Minister noted. “Today I would like to discuss one of the key issues: the prospects and real terms for the creation of a domestic passenger electric car. This task was set by the Head of State. A lot of preliminary work has been done in this direction, but I would like to finally decide on the form of going directly to the creation of an electric car.”

Roman Golovchenko believes that if there are significant results in freight, cargo and passenger transport (before the meeting, he saw both prototypes and those that are already in operation), then a lot of research work has been done in terms of passenger electric transport, many elements have been created.

“Now we need to put it all together and come up with a conceptual solution for further movement in manufacturing a whole car,” Roman Golovchenko underlined.

Questions at the meeting were considered in sections: what science has done, what industry has done, what has been done in terms of infrastructure.

“Without close co-ordination between each other, individual elements will not have an effect for the country,” the Prime Minister is confident.

The Industry Ministry is a state body responsible for linking all elements of the programme.
