Belarus offers Georgia co-operation in peat industry

Aleksei Kushnarenko, the Director General of Beltopgaz State Production Association of Fuel and Gasification, and Valeri Kvaratskhelia, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Belarus, have met to discuss promising areas of partnership of mutual interest – as reported by the Belarusian Energy Ministry's Telegram channel

Mr. Kushnarenko informed on the areas of peat use in Belarus, including for the needs of the cement industry and boiler houses of housing-and-communal services.

“Belarus ranks 4th globally in terms of peat extraction. Thanks to modernisation of the industry, Belarusian enterprises enjoy a significant production potential. They manufacture diverse machinery and equipment for peat extraction and processing. A range of peat products – exported to more than 20 countries – is all time being renewed,” he added.

As stated by the Energy Ministry’s press service, Belarusian peat plants work over the expansion of sales markets and Georgia is of interest to the Republic. Different forms of co-operation are possible – including exchange of experience in the peat sector and exports of peat products and equipment for peat extraction to Georgia.
