Belarus’ NAS announced preliminary dates for Belarusian-Russian small satellites constellation creation
At a press conference, the Director General of the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Sergei Kruglikov, announced the preliminary dates for the creation of the Belarusian-Russian constellation of satellites, BelTA reports
“One of the directions of the Union State's Complex-SG programme, which is now being implemented, is the development of domestic nanosatellites and small satellites to create a space constellation. It is planned to complete the development of these satellites within the framework of this programme. A large amount of equipment is being prepared for this purpose, the so-called ground test stands. As for the launch of a constellation of small and nanosatellites into orbit, the timing is changing approximately until 2029, and within the framework of a separate programme,” Sergei Kruglikov stated.
The scientist added that small and nanosatellites will be used for various studies and experiments. They will be of great interest for the space debris detection, “Such satellites will host equipment, enabling to receive real-time information about the presence of a particular space debris at a certain point in outer space. The task is not a trivial one, but it will be solved.”
