Belarus leads in ice cream production in EAEU

The Republic of Belarus produces 3.6kg of ice cream per person annually – as informed by Maria Klimova, the Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Food Ministry’s Main Department of Processing Industry

“Every year, 3.6kg of ice cream are produced in Belarus per person. For you to compare: in Kazakhstan, this figure makes 1.7kg, in Kyrgyzstan – 0.8kg, and in Russia – 2.8kg,” Ms. Klimova said.

From January-May 2021, Belarus produced almost 15,000 tonnes of ice cream and food ice, and the growth rate of ice cream sales reached 107 percent.

This popular ‘summer’ product enjoys demand abroad: last year, Belarus exported 9,400 tonnes to generate $23.8m. Belarusian ice cream is also gaining popularity in China: its sales there amounted to $72,900.
