Belarus is primarily self-sufficient in food, expert assets
The sooner Western countries come to their senses, the sooner they will realise that sanctions are harmful to themselves and to the global economy as a whole – as stated by Vasily Gursky, the Director of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, during his talk with ONT TV channel
The expert underlined that Belarus is largely self-sufficient in food, “Our country repeatedly covers domestic needs for meat, milk, and grain crops. Sanctions require a certain amount of time and effort in order to reorient trade flows and find new supply chains. However, Belarus has no problems with this.”
Mr. Gursky cited the example of Western countries that really suffer from their own restrictions, “We see what is happening now in Western countries, how fast their prices are growing, what kind of inflation they have. Sanctions are not beneficial to anyone. The sooner Western countries come to their senses, the sooner they will realise that such a destructive policy is harmful to themselves and to the world economy in general.
