Belarus’ industrial park to be built in Khabarovsk Krai
A Belarusian industrial park with the localisation of the Belarusian machinery production is expected to be open in Khabarovsk Krai – as noted by Dmitry Demeshin, the Governor of Khabarovsk Krai of the Russian Federation, following his today’s meeting with President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko
According to Mr. Demeshin, a format of the trade and economic co-operation between Belarus and Khabarovsk Krai (which is one of the largest industrial centres of Russia) was discussed in detail during the meeting. “We have discussed the establishment of industrial parks, where the production of Belarusian machinery – that is traditionally [supplied] for the needs of our mining industry (such as BelAZ and MAZ vehicles) – will be localised. The issue also includes agricultural machinery and equipment for housing and communal services, as well as after-sales maintenance. We understand that whoever can service the equipment faster wins in the market at present,” he said.
According to preliminary estimates, it will take a year to implement the project.
The Russian governor stated that the trade turnover increased by 40 percent in H2 2024 and expressed confidence that the figures will be even higher this year.
The parties discussed mutual supplies of food, industrial products, co-operation in the field of tourism, and the exchange of students, including from various technology centres.
In Belarus, the Khabarovsk Krai delegation will visit a number of industrial enterprises, and – as noted by Mr. Demeshin – each visit will be of a substantive nature. “We will have a look and think of what products Belarusian enterprises can supply to the Far East and which of our products can be sold here,” he said.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the possibility of supplying Belarusian passenger electrical equipment to Khabarovsk Krai. According to the Russian guest, such equipment has not been sold to the region before. It was determined that one of the cities of Khabarovsk Krai would be identified as a pilot project, where electric vehicles would be tested in harsh weather conditions.
Mr. Demeshin emphasised, “The Far East market should become a traditional market for Belarus. We are pleased to invite the friendly state to visit us so that these are not the remote eastern territories of Russia, but the east that would be close to Belarus.”
