As noted at the meeting attended by heads and representatives of Belarusian enterprises, the business entities demonstrate a real interest and have specific proposals for the development of co-operation and the implementation of joint projects.
Yelena Malinovskaya, the Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressed that BelCCI attaches great importance to the development of trade and economic co-operation between Belarus and India. According to her, the bilateral co-operation is developing quite dynamically, and the countries’ relations enjoy a long-lasting friendly character based on the similarity of views on the world order, ideology, and common assessment of the situation on many issues of the international agenda.
Rajesh Kumar reported on the concrete steps that have been taken recently in trade and economic co-operation between Belarus and India. In particular, interaction has been established between the Minsk Tractor Plant and the Indian company Sonalika, which agreed to exchange parts and technologies and also expressed intention to sign a memorandum on the establishment of assembly plants for Indian tractors in Belarus and Belarusian tractors in India. There is another Indian company that wants to co-operate with BelAZ. "All this increases the trade turnover between India and Belarus by hundreds of millions of Dollars," the Indian diplomat stressed.
The countries also work over the elimination of existing barriers in the trade and economic sphere, such as strict visa regulations, market overregulation, and difficulties in mutual settlements. Many problems can be solved within the framework of the participation of Belarus and India in the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation.
The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in turn, is ready to continue providing comprehensive support to Belarusian and Indian businesses in a wide range of areas.
