Belarus’ Foreign Minister held number of meetings and negotiations in Oman

On December 14th, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov and Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi held talks in Muscat, sb.by reports citing the Belarusian Foreign Ministry

During the meeting, the foreign ministers discussed topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda, priority areas of Belarusian-Omani co-operation in the near future in the political, trade-economic and humanitarian spheres.

Maxim Ryzhenkov thanked the Omani side for the intensive joint work to organise the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to the Sultanate of Oman. It has been noted that the Head of State’s visit was preceded by a number of important preparatory activities, particularly, visits to Muscat by Belarus’ Prime Minister, a delegation headed by the Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus, as well as political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers. A representative delegation of Belarusian food industry enterprises headed by the Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister took part in the Oman AgroFood 2024 exhibition.

The sides agreed on the need to establish an intergovernmental commission on trade-economic co-operation as soon as possible and discussed the appointment of its co-chairs. Much attention was paid to the topic of stimulating communication between the two countries’ business circles, as well as tourist exchanges.

In order to maintain high dynamics of bilateral contacts and timely co-ordination of positions on topical issues of co-operation, Mr. Ryzhenkov invited his Omani counterpart to pay a visit to Belarus in 2025. The invitation was gratefully accepted.

On the same day, as part of the preparations for the Belarusian leader’s visit to Oman, the Belarusian Foreign Minister met with Oman’s Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources Saud Al Habsi and Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais Al Yousef. They discussed concrete steps to develop bilateral relations in the areas of food security, industry, tourism and education.

Belarus’ Foreign Minister has also met with Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Faisal Al Rawas. The Omani side confirmed its readiness to start practical activities of the Belarusian-Omani business council. The parties stated their mutual interest in expanding the practice of exchanging business visits and participating in specialised exhibitions in Belarus and Oman.
