Belarus’ FM to take part in 19th Non-Aligned Movement Ministerial Meeting
Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov will take part in the 19th Midterm Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement member states to be held in Kampala, Uganda, on October 15th-16th, sb.by reports citing Belarus’ Foreign Ministry

FYI: The Non-Aligned Movement was established in 1961 to protect the interest of developing states. Belarus has been a NAM member since 1998. Currently, NAM unites 121 member states, with 18 countries and 10 international organisations, including the UN, granted observer status. The Non-Aligned Movement builds its work on the Bandung principles, namely, respect for sovereignty, abstention from using force and interfering into the internal affairs of states, as well as ensuring the right of countries to determine their own political, economic, social and cultural systems.
Belarus will serve as Deputy Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement from the European regional group.
Belarus’ Foreign Minister will take part in the plenary session titled ‘Deepening Co-operation for Shared Global Affluence’. The national statement will outline Belarus’ views on strengthening the role of the Non-Aligned Movement in building a just and sustainable world order, consolidating the position of member states on key international matters, enhancing economic prospects of NAM members and developing long-term mutually beneficial co-operation. The statement will focus on sustainable development, innovative economic co-operation, as well as strengthening humanitarian dialogue.
Bilateral meetings are planned between Maxim Ryzhenkov and foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement member states.
